Geography
use a variety of intellectual skills to demonstrate their understanding of the geography of the interdependent world in which we live—local, national, and global—including the distribution of people, places, and environments over the Earth’s surface.---> BLOGS are a great way for teachers to incorporate learning activities into their classroom for independent use on the computers. I made a blog that offers students that very essence and I will share that link with you here...

ACTIVITY 2.)

Standard 1
Students will read, write, listen, and speak for information and understanding. As listeners and readers, students will collect data, facts, and ideas, discover relationships, concepts, and generalizations; and use knowledge generated from oral, written, and electronically produced texts. As speakers and writers, they will use oral and written language to acquire, interpret, apply, and transmit information.
---> BLOGS are a perfect way to allow students an opportunity to be creative with their writing. An excellent platform for a journal or a creative story that they can add to as they increase their abilities and vocabulary.

ReplyDeleteAs a TESOL instructor, I think it would be a good idea to use your geography activity with my students on the blog as well.
ReplyDeleteThis would present an opportunity for students to identify and share thoughts about English speaking cultures around the world. Part of sound ESL instruction includes educating students on the culture of the language they are learning. I could combine this with one of my activities which asks students to do an internet research project on an English speaking culture of their choice.
Thanks for your contribution, I look forward to trying to incorporate your ideas.
Thanks for sharing the link to your blog of geography games.
ReplyDeleteI like how you mentioned that the reading and writing standard is met with blogs because they promote collaboration and interaction in order to gather information!
